Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce to Relocate

The Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, after much research and thought has approved the Chamber joining the Business Resource Center.  The Business Resource Center will be located in Downtown Historic Cedar City.

The Business Resource Center will contain, The Small Business Development Center, A Utah Science Technology and Research Tech Outreach satellite office (USTAR), The Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce and possibly access on a weekly basis with the staff of Congressman Matheson, and Senators Hatch and Bennett.  The BRC will coordinate closely with the Cedar City/Iron County Economic Development Department.

Someone needing assistance could call or drop in the BRC and they will find the resources they need available in one location, regardless of who they are.  If you are a startup or a business wanting to expand or relocate to Cedar City/Iron County the resources you need will be located in one place, the BRC.

Craig Isom, from the SBDC will be the Executive Director, in charge of the Business Resource Center.

New Chamber Intern

We are pleased to introduce the newest member of the Chamber team.   Bryan Allen.  Bryan is a senior at SUU majoring in Marketing.

Bryan will work with the new chamber members to see their welcome ad is placed in the Daily News. Bryan will also be contacting members to verify the marketing information on your chamber web page. Deadline Extended for WIB Scholarship!

Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce Women In Business has extended the deadline to apply for a scholarship to January 23, 2009! WIB would like to invite all women to apply for this year’s WIB scholarship program to attend an accredited university or college in Iron County.

"We are looking forward to considering the applications for these scholarships and choosing the final recipients," said Andrea Cook, WIB President.

Applicants must be women who plan to attend an Iron County university or college during the 2009-2010 school year.

Cedar Area Chamber Gears Up to Go to China

As Gov. Jon Huntsman focuses on China as one of four “priority” countries for foreign exchange, the Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce is supporting his efforts by leading an educational tour to China in 2009.

The 2009 tour is scheduled to coincide with the Southern Utah University spring break with departure dates on March 13 and 14, 2009.

Flu Shots Available
The Southwest Utah Public Health Department has flu vaccine available. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone over 6 months of age get a flu shot, especially children, pregnant women, seniors, and others who are more vulnerable to complications from the flu.

Immunization clinics are Tuesdays from 3-6 pm and Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. Call for an appointment at 586-2437, ext. 6. The clinic is located at 260 E. DL Sargent Drive. Flu shots are $25, or PEHP, SelectCare, Medicare, and Medicaid is accepted.

Also, please contact us if you are interested in having your employees vaccinated at your place of business.
